Building A Band of Brothers

Product Description

This 500 micron BBA-certified black polyethylene damp-proof membrane (DPM) provides heavy-duty protection against rising damp in ground-floor constructions. At double the thickness of a standard 250 micron DPM, it offers superior puncture resistance on rough sub-bases and hardcore. Compliant with BS 8102 and BBA approved. Supplied in a 4 m × 12.5 m roll (50 m²).

Key Benefits

BBA certified — independently verified performance
500 micron (2000 gauge) — heavy-duty puncture resistance
Compliant with BS 8102 for below-ground waterproofing
Effective barrier against rising damp and ground moisture
Ideal for rough sub-bases where puncture risk is higher
Suitable beneath slabs, screeds and insulation
UV stabilised black polyethylene

Application

Lay the membrane over the prepared sub-base or blinding layer with a minimum 300 mm overlap at all joints. Seal overlaps with DPM jointing tape. Turn up at perimeters to lap with the wall DPC. Take care to avoid puncturing — protect with a sand blinding layer if laid directly on hardcore. Can also be used as a slip membrane over insulation before screeding with a 150 mm overlap.

Coverage

Each roll covers 50 m² (4 m × 12.5 m). Allow approximately 10–15% extra for overlaps and wastage depending on floor plan complexity.
