Product Description
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is the standard binding agent for traditional sand–cement screeds, concrete and mortar mixes. Conforming to BS EN 197-1 CEM I 42.5N, it provides reliable strength development and is the most widely used cement type in UK construction for floor screeds, structural concrete and general-purpose repair work.
Key Benefits
Application
For traditional sand–cement screeds, mix at a ratio of 1 part cement to 3–4 parts sharp sand by volume. Add water sparingly until a semi-dry, earth-moist consistency is achieved. Lay, compact and level using standard screed practice. For concrete, adjust mix ratios according to the required strength class. Cure by keeping the surface damp for a minimum of 7 days. Apply at temperatures above +5°C.
Coverage
For a typical 4:1 sand–cement screed at 50 mm depth, approximately 20 kg of cement covers 4–5 m². Actual coverage depends on mix ratio, compaction and screed depth.
