Product Description
TEKCEM Barrier Foam is a closed-cell polyethylene foam strip used as a perimeter edge detail for floating screeds. It creates a compressible isolation joint between the screed and walls, columns and other fixed elements, allowing for thermal expansion and contraction while preventing sound bridging. Supplied in packs of 40 strips, each 2 m × 25 mm × 25 mm at 30 kg/m³ density.
Key Benefits
Application
Peel the adhesive backing and fix the foam strip vertically to the wall around the full perimeter of the room before screeding. Ensure strips are butted tightly at corners with no gaps. The top of the strip should sit above the finished screed level. Trim flush with the floor surface after the screed has cured and before fitting skirting boards. Also install around columns, pipes and other fixed elements penetrating the floor.
Coverage
Each strip is 2 m long. One pack of 40 strips provides 80 linear metres of perimeter edge isolation. For a typical 4 m × 5 m room (18 m perimeter), one pack covers approximately 4 rooms.
